Congenital syphilis (CS) is a sentinel disease, neglected and without mincing words, which reflects poor quality of prenatal care. The public authorities, as the absolute majority of cases come from this sector, know the problem, they know how to solve it. The necessary inputs exist in the world and in Brazil, but public authority does not eliminate this disease. Regarding CS in Brazil, the numbers are: 2019, 25,387 (8.9 detection rate — DR); 2020, 23,578 (8.6 DR); 2021, 27,019 (9.9 DR). In other words, the DR of CS is 20 times higher than the rate for the elimination target (0.5 SC/1,000 LB). We ask (demand) that you make this commitment. Everyone can do a little, which in the case of congenital syphilis is a lot. In this sense, you can count on all of our workforce, without any conflict of interest.
